Dislocation is a series of collages that explore the idea of disrupting a set order or system. Inspired by my relocation from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to San Francisco, California, this work is a reflection of changes–to my environment and to myself. While the process of assimilation into a new surrounding is very common, it is equally a profound experience of change that I find worthy of examination. As a visual diary, the imagery used is both graphic and symbolic. Each piece creates a sense of change within a constant–something logical becomes illogical–something organized becomes organic.
